Located around four kilometres south of Sainte-Anne, Les Salines beach, with its 1,200 metres of golden sand and perfect semi-circular shape, looks like something from a picture postcard. It's surely one of Martinique's most famous sites and one of the island's most beautiful beaches! In this absolutely magical place, you'll find everything you could wish for in a beach: coconut trees, fine sand and turquoise water, a delight for sunbathers…
This site is named after the famous salt pond located behind the beach, and actually is made up of two coves, a big one and a small one, separated by the Pie headland. The whole area is lined by a coconut grove that's very pleasant and offers holidaymakers some shade when the sun gets a bit too much. Visitors also appreciate the beauty of a wild, unspoilt natural environment…
Although fairly quiet on weekdays, the Big Cove of Les Salines gets busy at the weekend; the beach receives around two million visitors a year! Indeed, many local people come to relax and picnic at this enchanting spot. While there's less peace and quiet at these times, you can enjoy a party atmosphere, take a refreshing dip and enjoy a delicious coconut or guava sorbet!
