In the heart of the Domaine de Dampierre-en-Yvelines, discover the most imposing castle in the Chevreuse Valley, in the Yvelines. Located at the bottom of the Yvette valley, it is surrounded by 90 hectares of French gardens, in the heart of an enclosed park of 400 hectares. Renowned for the architect of this work, Jules Hardouin-Mansart and André Le Notre for the gardens, the walk around the castle allows you to discover the gardens and its large water features but also to apprehend the History of France, François I came to stay in the Renaissance castle that existed before, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour, Marie Leczinska came here to rest every year until Marie Antoinette appreciated this residence and its "most beautiful gardens in Europe" according to the Regent Anne of Austria!
The families owning the place were of the most influential with the royal court, the Dukes of Guise, the Cardinal of Lorraine or the Dukes of Chevreuse with the Duchess of Chevreuse, the most famous rebel in the history of France.
