The House is situated Viguiers Timbal street in central Albi. Also known as Hotel Reynes House or Guise, this mansion was built in the sixteenth century to the family of Roger Reynes, whose fortune came from the trade first sheet, that of pastel then.
The facade overlooking the street and has a Renaissance courtyard, loggia-like gallery is decorated with busts of King Francis I and his wife.
The listed building historic monument in 1862 remains in this family whose representatives occupied several high municipal functions until the early nineteenth century. The house is then sold, converted into apartments and shops built on the ground floor. As of 1925, the town acquired the mansion, which is sold some time later to the Chamber of Commerce and most recently, the County Council.
This fine example of Renaissance architecture in the capital of the Tarn will decorate a free or guided visit of the historical center of the city. Information +33 5 63 36 36 00.
