Small mountain village Hautes-Alpes, Ancelle takes place about twenty kilometers from Gap, near Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes and Ditch Bridge, and a hundred kilometers from the city of Grenoble.
Located at 1250 meters above sea level and surrounded by numerous peaks, the town of Ancelle was long isolated because of its location. A first religious community was established in the late eighth century, depending on the Abbey of Novalesa. Conquered by the Count of Provence in the eleventh century, the territory was gradually opened up and continues until today to turn to agriculture and livestock.
Tourism and winter sports are also taking much importance from the 1950s through the creation of an ever popular family resort today.
