Located on a rocky outcrop, in Seine-Maritime, the castle of Arques-la-Bataille was built in the course of the twelfth century on the site of an old castle motte. Classified as a Historical Monument, it was dismantled in the last century and today only remains ruins of the site that saw the victory of Henri IV in 1589.
Stretched in length, the building follows the shape of the rock and it is still possible to discover some traces of the dungeon, the walls or different buildings around. Nice example of the evolution of Norman castles, it still reveals its deep ditches and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscapes.
