Municipality of Cher, in the heart of Berry, Avord takes place about twenty kilometers from Bourges. Known for hosting the second largest base of the French Air Force, which notably hosted Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1922, it is located not far from Baugy, Jussy-Champagne or Farges-en-Septaine.
Of ancient origin, the commune of Avord has distinguished itself in French military history since the 19th century. After hosting the first military infantry school of the army in 1873, it was chosen as the location of an important aeronautical station at the beginning of the 20th century.
Today still occupied by the French army, this city in central France also reveals an interesting architectural and historical heritage.
