Commune of nearly 3,800 inhabitants of Puy-de-Dôme, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Blanzat takes place only ten kilometers from Clermont-Ferrand, in the Bédat valley. It is located between the Col de Bancillon and the plateau de la Bade, not far from Volvic, Châteaugay or Royat.
Occupied since the Magdalenian period, as evidenced by the cut flint tools or the worked deer antler found on site, the territory of Blanzat really developed in the 13th century. But it was between the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century that the city really enjoyed economic prosperity, notably through its fruit crops, with viticulture and apple growing, and industry.
Dynamic with its various cultural infrastructures, the municipality of Blanzat also has a heritage that bears witness to its past.
