Corcelles Castle is located in the town of Charolles, in the department of Saône-et-Loire.
It owes its name to the hamlet of Corcelles, to the north of the town, which belonged to the commune of Saint-Symphorien-lès-Charolles before its attachment to Charolles in 1896.
The building was built in 1905 in 1908 according to the plans of the architect Jean Boirivant. Protected as historical monuments, it also benefits from the label "Heritage of the 20th century".
According to the fashion in force during the Belle Epoque, the castle presents a neo-regionalist style with Norman references (although located in Burgundy…) but also Gothic touches…
The building follows an H plan but asymmetrically and includes no less than 35 rooms spread over three levels. Note the neat roofs, and some particularly elaborate rooms such as the large hall and the stairwell with its stained glass window, or the dining room with its stained glass windows.
The interior decorations are moreover of varied influences (neo-Gothic, Louis XV and Louis XVI style) and there are stained glass windows and polychrome tiles designed by the painter and master glassmaker Lucien Bégule.
Private property is not open to the public. However, you can observe the exteriors and the silhouette of this singular example of early 20th century architecture during a walk in a bucolic setting.
