Municipality of Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France region, Chaumes-en-Brie takes place about twenty kilometers from Melun and about fifty kilometers from Paris and its many tourist sites. It is located not far from Tournan-en-Brie, Argentières or Mormant.
Ancient Roman town called Calma, meaning height, the town of Chaumes-en-Brie was entirely fortified in the Middle Ages. The remains of the wall are still visible in the city. Its history is strongly linked to that of the Royal Abbey of Saint-Pierre, founded in the 6th century under Childebert and Clotaire I.
Very dynamic, the Ile-de-France city today attracts visitors with its many cultural and sporting events as well as the richness of its architectural heritage.
