Chilhac

While strolling in the fortified village installed at the top of its basaltic cliff, you will benefit from an impregnable view on the valley of the Allier. You can also discover here the Saint-Honorat church, a Romanesque building of the 12th century, now listed as a Historical Monument. There are also some remains of the old medieval castle.

Do not miss to admire during your walk the entrance porch of the fifteenth century, or the suspension bridge of the late nineteenth century.

The museum of paleontology allows to learn a little more about life, fauna and flora in the region in prehistoric times through collections of objects, bones or fossils found in the area during excavations archaeological. Temporary exhibitions are offered throughout the year.

On the banks of the Allier, a base of canoe-kayak has been arranged to enjoy the beautiful days. Several marked hiking trails are also available.

• Between July and August, a market is offered on Wednesdays from 18h to 21h. Every Saturday following the Ascension, the town was the scene of a large garage sale.
• The last weekend in July, up to the summer festival on the banks of the Allier including the program a picnic and dances.
• Many concerts and performances, often free, are held all summer indoors or outdoors.
