New Norman municipality of the department of Orne, Cour-Maugis-sur-Huisne was born on January 1, 2016 from the merger of Boissy-Maugis, Courcerault, House-Maugis, and Saint-Maurice-sur-Huisne. The village is located about sixty kilometers from Alençon, not far from Mortagne-au-Perche.
Ancient, the municipalities forming today Cour-Maugis-sur-Huisne are inhabited for several centuries, testifying to a rich history and attached to the seigneuries of the region. In the heart of the Normandy countryside, the new town is appreciated by lovers of unspoiled nature and outdoor activities.
Close to some of the most beautiful sites of the Orne, as well as the departments of Sarthe or Calvados, the town of Cour-Maugis-sur-Huisne is ideal for a stay in the region and enjoy all the charm of this Norman culture.
While strolling in the village of Cour-Maugis-sur-Huisne, you will appreciate the typically Norman architecture of the oldest buildings, as well as the preserved and green landscapes. Several marked hiking trails allow you to admire the local fauna and flora.
In Boissy-Maugis, let yourself be seduced by the dolmen of Grosse Pierre, listed as an historic monument. Do not miss the Moussetière Manor, also listed, or the Saint-Germain-de-Paris church.
Romanesque style, the church of Saint-Pierre de Courcerault presents two credentials of the eighteenth century classified Historical Monuments. You can also enjoy the mill of the Vove on Huisne.
The former municipality of Maison-Maugis has an 18th century castle listed as a historic monument, whose garden is a classified site. The church of Saint-Nicolas, meanwhile, unveils a 16th century stained glass window depicting Saint Catherine, as well as an altar altarpiece-tabernacle-table of the Resurrection, all classified as an object.
In Saint-Maurice-sur-Huisne, think of going to see the manor of Perrignes, privately owned listed historical monument, remodeled in the seventeenth century and built in the fifteenth. The presbytery, adjoining the Romanesque church was modified in the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth century and enlarged in the nineteenth.
Ouverture des Jardins des Perrignes
- From 15 april to 13 july 2024
- Lieu Dit les Perrignes, Manoir des Perrignes, Saint-Maurice-sur-Huisne
- Initially conceived as a French garden, the garden follows the transformations of each era. Food garden, neo-Gothic, romantic, the English garden is then redesigned by the intervention of great landscapers. After a long period of latency, the garden continues to evolve around the manor, turned towards the diversity of spaces and respect for the environment. Diverse zones and differentiated spaces. From the dry garden to the water garden, from the shaded alcoves to the luminous spaces, from the vegetable garden to the ornamental garden and from the meadow-orchard to the walks under the collection trees. Testimonies of the past and new directions. The manor and the garden follow the same declination. - Practical : free visit from 2 pm to 6 pm from Monday to Saturday.
