Municipality of the North of more than 8,500 inhabitants, in Hauts-de-France, La Chapelle-d'Armentières takes place about fifteen kilometers from Lille, on the territory of Weppes. It is located about sixty kilometers from Dunkirk, not far from the Belgian border and the municipalities of Nieppe, Houplines and Armentières.
An integral part of Armentières until the end of the 18th century, La Chapelle-d'Armentières becomes independent just after the French Revolution, thus becoming a municipality in its own right. Strongly affected by the fighting of the First World War which left it entirely in ruins, this city in northern France had to wait until the 1960s to regain its former population level.
Today, the town still has very significant agricultural activity, a majority of its economy, and attracts visitors with its natural charm and its heritage linked to the events of the First World War.
