Lagnieu

City rather old, Lagnieu still possesses an architectural heritage full of interest.

Listed historical monument, the castle of Montferrand is a former stronghold of the late fourteenth century. According to the assumptions of historians, a tower of the old fortifications would be the basis of the original castle built by Aynard Montferrand.

There still remains some vestiges of the old fortified town of Lagnieu, including the remains of some walls.

City Lagnieu houses within a beautiful neo-Gothic church of the nineteenth century with nice furniture inside.

Walking through the streets of the city or its surroundings, one can discover various beautiful monuments, like the cross of Bramafan which rises to 535 meters, the castle of Lagnieu, now privately owned, Proulieu the mill, the remains of an ancient daily life, or a beautiful loft dating from the sixteenth century.

Small, City Lagnieu not least in offers some nice events that attract visitors and sportsmen.

Lagnieu hosts a weekly market every Monday and Friday morning from 8am to 13h.

At the beginning of December, the city also offers a Christmas market with different activities and the presence of Santa.

Two annual fairs are organized Lagnieu: in November with the fair of St. Martin, and January with the fair of St. Vincent. On this occasion, the markets are available, as well as attractions.

Every weekend from May 1, the annual vogue takes place in downtown Lagnieu. Rides and other attractions sensational installed, while other events are organized.

In November, Dans'emble dance school offers dance festival with workshops and performances to the frenzied atmosphere.

Many sporting events are presented throughout the year, such as 10 km Nature in September, the relay marathon in October, or the Triat'Rhône, a triathlon in July.
