Le Louroux is a small village of about 500 inhabitants, located 35 kilometers south of Tours on the departmental D50. Nestled in the South Touraine, Le Louroux welcomes you in a haven of greenery.
In the south, the territory of the municipality of Le Louroux is crossed by a small stream "the Echandon" and you are greeted with North and South entrances of two beautiful ponds.
In the middle of the village, next to the town hall, you can discover the Country House which traces the events and history of the village.
Just behind the Country House is the priory, beautiful 12th century building, built in limestone. Abbey Farm 12th century, the building served as a dormitory accommodation or the monks who lived there. Before, there is a large blank wall only pierced by two dormers with triangular pediment. The gable of the barn, you can see the windows that illuminate floors and staircase that serves them. Treads and risers of the latter are carved in a single piece of wood and fit perfectly into the central pillar of wood, too. Close to the tower, the edge of a pit or tank almost a meter in diameter, with an advanced flow of water is an animal head, unfortunately, it has been damaged.
In the cemetery, there is the Hosanna Cross the 15th century. It is certainly the most beautiful and oldest township ordeal. Standing on a pedestal adorned with impressive skulls in each corner, the cross is carved with a crucifixion on one side and a Virgin and Child on the other. The statues of the Virgin and St. John surround Christ.
There is also the pigeon or Fuye.
The lake of 52 hectares, classified sensitive natural area. Opportunity to walk around, observe wildlife through the observatory. Regularly LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) organizes small presentation sessions of the local fauna and / or migration.
Two hikes (5 or 18 km) are fully marked in the town and surrounding area.
