The Garenne racecourse, also known as "Agen racecourse", is located in the town of Le Passage, in the Lot-et-Garonne, to the west of Agen which it borders.
Created in 1850 on the Mestro site then transferred in 1973 to the Garenne site, near the airport, the racecourse located near the city center (the course of the Garonne separates the two towns of Passage and Agen) covers 22 hectares. It includes a 1,200m pink sand trotting track with a 320m straight and a 1,350m grass gallop track (with a 370m straight). A restaurant and stands that can accommodate some 2,000 spectators complete the facilities.
The Hippodrome de la Garenne schedules 26 meetings a year (i.e. more than 200 races) from September to June, including 10 national meetings which may give rise to PMU bets.
Open to the three specialties of trotting, flat racing and obstacle course racing, the infrastructure can be visited outside of horse-riding events and, where appropriate, host private, cultural (exhibitions) or professional (congresses), seminars).
