A flagship of Romanesque art in Franche-Comté, the Saint-Désiré church in Lons-le-Saunier, in the Jura, was erected in the first half of the 11th century. Partly altered in the 19th century following major fires in the 16th and 17th centuries, it notably unveils a double flight staircase from the middle of the 19th century and a bell tower rebuilt in 1880.
Located on the remains of an old pagan sanctuary, it now benefits from a classification as a historical monument, in particular for its very beautiful crypt.
