The Gerland park, is located Lyon, south of the city, on the left bank of the Rhone, where it was built on a former industrial site. It has recently been an expansion and a development.
The park consists of a large meadow along the river around which was created a "garden walk" wide by 3 hectares where the visitor can observe 18,000 plants representing 300 plant species.
Nearby, an old industrial pavilion has been renovated to a House of Flowers which are offered throughout the year exhibitions dedicated to horticulture.
A garden birds with birdhouses and an orchard also punctuate the space.
children's play areas separated by hedges and skate parks (one is covered) are also available.
In the evening, up to 22 hours via a suitable lighting system, the park turns into "Chromatic garden" with background music.
Note that the Gerland park hosts in June the "6th continent Festival" whose mission is to enhance the diversity and mix of cultures. Furthermore, since the park it is possible to borrow a bike route that connects to the Cité Internationale and the Miribel Jonage Park.
