Mountain town par excellence, Marignier is located in the department of Haute-Savoie. It is in the middle Arve valley, between Cluses and Bonneville.
Marinicum in the Middle Ages, Marignier have been created, according to historians, by a return of the Crusades Knight. But it was the arrival of the railroad in the late nineteenth century, when the Industrial Revolution, the city has taken a real economic significance. Indeed, until the 1990s, Marignier housed within it a large electro-metallurgical plant.
