Maromme is a town in the Seine-Maritime department of Normandy, 8 km north-west of Rouen.
The territory crossed by the river Cailly, which makes the marshlands at that time, belongs to the Middle Ages at the Abbey of Fécamp before becoming a seigneurial civil fief in the sixteenth century. Then Maromme returns again to monks, in this case those of the Hôtel-Dieu of Rouen, in 1750.
In the nineteenth century, the locality specializes in weaving and tanning, among others.
Maromme then develops in the wake of the Rouen agglomeration but preserves its green environment (wood, river). To date, the city has more than 11,000 inhabitants and its natural heritage and cultural vitality are worth seeing.
A discovery of the city can begin with its built heritage, however quite small but quality.
This is the case of the Saint-Martin church, completed in 1869, of neo-Gothic style, which succeeded several chapels or earlier churches, become dilapidated or cramped. Note the apse chapels and stained glass windows signed by the painter-glassmaker Rouen Eugene Dalleinne.
To see also, the Pélissier house, a half-timbered mansion of pure Norman style, surrounded by a pleasant park. It belonged to the nineteenth century Aimable Pélissier, native of the city, became Duke of Malakoff and Marshal of France under the Second Empire, and Governor-General of Algeria from 1860 to his death in 1864. The building was acquired by the town and now hosts receptions and cultural events.
Finally, a testimony to the vitality of the local industry in the nineteenth century, an astonishing and impressive paddle wheel on the Cailly, the "Tifine wheel", is worth a look. She fed a textile factory. It evokes the wheels used formerly on the steamers.

- Géraldine Py & Roberto Verde invent narrative devices, often amusing, in the form of sculptures or videos. As in the works of Roman Signer or Fischli & Weiss, their gestures lead us to reconsider the relationships between humans, objects and animal life. The exhibition takes as its starting point images filmed in sewers, where robots, usually used to inspect pipes, are put on the trail of rats, reluctant to let themselves be approached by humans. From then on, the robots ? Solitary wanderings take on an existential quality : we visit these invisible yet monumental architectures with them, searching for something we can ? T find, tossed about by the sketchy elements of our underworld. - For the Académie site, he and she have imagined several original video installations, including a device connected to line-following robots that will make their rounds in the building. - - - Géraldine Py, born in 1986, and Roberto Verde, born in 1981, have been an artist duo since 2012, living and working in Brussels. - Exhibition organized as part of Normandie Impressionniste - Venue : Le SHED - site de l'Académie - - - Opening Saturday May 4 from 7.30pm - Reserve your place for the shuttle bus from Paris on the evening of the opening here : https://www.helloasso.com/associations/le-shed-centre-d-art-contemporain-de-normandie/evenements/navette-vernissage-geraldine-py-roberto-verde-et-thomas-teurlai - Dates - Nuit des musées / "Audio-guide & sound performance - Saturday, May 18,2pm-8pm, proposed by Benjamin Bonaventure. - ? - Les inattendus #5 / Workshop with Trystan Hamon and Adel Boumehdi - Sunday, May 19,1pm to 5pm, as part of "Maromme en fête". - ? - Vacation workshop / "Making the invisible visible" : July 10 to 12,10am to 12pm.
