Founded by Marcel Maréchal in the early 1980s, the national theater La Criée de Marseille takes place on the Quai de Rive-Neuve, near the Old Port. Originally the fish market, from which it takes its name, the site now offers a performance hall with a capacity of 800 seats as well as a modular hall with 280 seats.
Directed by Macha Makeïeff, today it only unveils an original facade classified as a Historic Monument.
Each season, the theater hosts numerous dance, music or theater shows with an original program.
