The commune of Merdrignac takes place in Brittany, in the department of Côtes-d'Armor. Chief town of canton, it depends on the arrondissement of Dinan and is located about sixty kilometers from Rennes. The city would hold its name from its Gallo-Roman founder, Maternus, to which would have been added the suffix gaulois, acos.

This small Breton town offers visitors a typical architecture of this region, including the presence of some beautiful old manors. There is no shortage of leisure time in Merdrignac, whether you are a fan of water sports or outdoor activities in general. The surrounding nature is also the theater of beautiful walks on foot or by bike, in family or among friends, to appreciate the charm of this city of Brittany.

Things to see and do

Walking through Merdrignac, we discover monuments with typical Breton architecture, like the castle Kernué of the twentieth century, the manor of the Valley of the late sixteenth century, or the mansion built on the Peignie the remains of a thirteenth century castle. Inside there are still huge granite fireplaces in the country, while outside, a former circular wells once used to supply the inhabitants with water.

The city also hosts a beautiful St. Bridget chapel of 1872, washhouse Cartady, or the town hall, built in the nineteenth century under the orders of the architect Labartette.

The valley of Landrouët, with its pond, hosts within it a leisure park with playgrounds, ponds for fishing, hiking trails, mini-golf, or several sports fields.

Events and festivities

The market of Merdrignac is organized every Wednesday morning.

In April, the secondary school of Le Mené proposes its festival of plants with sales of accessories of gardens and other local products.

In June, the festival of music.

In July, a large garage sale is organized around the ponds.

Every July 13, the fireworks are fired at the leisure base and is followed by the traditional firefighter ball.

In september, place at the festival Uvas Pasas with an eclectic programming of concerts.
