Located ten kilometers from Aix-en-Provence, the town of Meyreuil takes place in the Bouches-du-Rhône, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Sheltered northeast by the famous Sainte-Victoire mountain, it nestles in the heart of Provence countryside, near Gardanne.
The city takes its name from an ancient battle led by the Roman general Marius, against Ambrones and Teutons, in the outskirts of Aix-en-Provence. It is from this period that the installation of Roman families on the site Meyreuil. Old Provencal village, the city is now highly valued for its scenery and modest architectural heritage. Her beauty drew particular Paul Cézanne, who made some paintings of the city during the nineteenth century.
Gastronomy is not left to Meyreuil because the city is part of the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire area, a wine with a modest production but some success.
