Montmerle is a pleasant city labeled "flower village" and "green resort", located along the river Saône Valley.
Hiking trails connect the different towns of the area.
A prime location along the Saône, 50 km north of Lyon and 30 km south of Macon. In summer, the town receives many visitors who enjoy walking on foot towpaths, bicycle or on horseback, learn minigolf, visit Minimes, park, chapel and tower offering a magnificent view of the Saone valley and the hills of Beaujolais. Families can enjoy the Batellerie park, picnic near the water and terraces of different restaurants and enjoy local specialties including frogs, frying and Bresse chicken.

The surroundings are rich in discovery activities: Touroparc the bird park, water gardens, cellars of Beaujolais, the castle Fléchères the mill waters of the Crozet and many other sites to discover just a few kilometers.
Throughout the year, the river stop located PK52, allows berthing of small pleasure boats and river cruise ships close to the town center, shops and markets.
In season, the Sunday market is held banks of the Saône and hosts diverse offerings: vegetables, butcher, cheese producers, textile, olives, flowers...
The appointment recurring annual cultural: the first September weekend the horse fair which has existed for over 400 years with a trade fair on Saturday and Sunday of equestrian events and shows, mid-September the lively old harvest by the brotherhood of Minimes, the market for creators Batellerie Park in the fall, in early February the Feast of conscripts, the festival of music, every Saturday in July and August the 5-7 (music festival) July 14, the craft market and fireworks.
