Nézignan-l'Évêque

Listed as a Historic Monument for its 18th century portal, the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church is a very fine example of Languedoc Romanesque art. Built in the 12th century, it underwent many transformations in the 14th, 15th and 18th centuries and today reveals a very beautiful semi-circular Romanesque chevet in cut stone assembled as a large device which presents the characteristics of the opus monspelliensis. Covered with tiles, it allows you to admire very beautiful sculpted modillions decorated with checkerboards, flowers, scrolls or other crosses. Inside, visitors can discover the Romanesque nave with barrel vault supported by transverse arches.

While passing through Nézignan-l'Évêque, don't miss to admire the 17th and 18th century houses of the old centre, the ramparts of the old castle or the old fountain. To make the most of sunny days, head to the Mediterranean botanical garden, a real haven of natural peace or even a walk among the different varieties of fig trees. The town also has a belvedere offering a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

In May, place at the spring festival with its local and craft market and its entertainment for young and old.

The bonfires of Saint-Jean are organized in June.

Country meal and fireworks are offered in mid-July to celebrate the national holiday.

Local festivals take place at the end of July with concerts, funfair or catering services.
