Things to see and do

Dating from the Upper Paleolithic, the cave of Niaux, now classified as an historic monument, is the town's main tourist attraction. Open to the public, it unveils very beautiful Madgalenian parietal figures to be discovered during fascinating guided tours. Stretching over two kilometers, it reveals spacious galleries, low vaults and underground lakes. The highlight of the visit, the Salon Noir, a large rotunda with an impressive vaulted ceiling, allows you to discover more than seventy paintings of bison, deer, ibex and other horses.

While strolling through the village, you can also admire the beautiful Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Vincent the Spanish or the remains of the old manor-castle and its fortification near the Alliat bridge.

The town also has a very interesting Pyrenean museum retracing the history of the region.
