House of Nicolas Flamel

Monument in Paris

Also known as the big gable, Nicolas Flamel's house takes place at 51 rue de Montmorency, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Listed as a Historical Monument, it now houses a restaurant.

The building was built in the late fourteenth century for Nicolas Flamel, a wealthy bourgeois, following the death of his wife. This is the only Flamel house still in existence today, as well as one of the oldest houses in Paris. His illustrious owner is wrongly known to have been the greatest alchemist of his time.

Passing by, you can admire the jamb of the doors decorated with carved sculptures in frames in basket handles. The front door is framed by four angels playing music.
