Located in one of the most beautiful bays of Brittany, Penvénan stretches along the coast. The territory includes Port-Blanc, located 3 km from the center, and Buguélès, its seaside resorts and marinas. The bay is the main attraction of this charming town. The seabed is beautiful and a string of islets scattered here and there finishes planting the paradisiacal scenery. In addition, it is sheltered and therefore benefits from calm waters suitable for pleasure, navigation and water games. The city possesses a rich historical heritage testifying to the occupation of the territory in remote times as evidenced by the presence of dolmens and menhirs. Between old stones and ocean, Penvénan invites to relaxation and discovery.

Things to see and do

The charm of Brittany once again operates. You will have the opportunity to visit typical places, sometimes unusual as the remarkable Notre-Dame chapel in Port-Blanc. Its originality lies already in its semi-buried construction. Classified as Historic Monuments, it was first a watchtower in the 13th century before becoming a house of God in the 15th century. Visits are on request outside the summer period.

The Vauban Wall and Saint-Gildas Island: General Vauban had built protective walls, notably at Port-Blanc and Saint-Gildas, which was then an advanced post. Pebble buildings survive on the island today.

The Sentinel Rock will also challenge you. A sentry box flanked by two statues awaits you there.

Finally, you can not miss the pebble mill of Buguélès. A true symbol of the economic activity of the past, the mill dates back to the 15th century.

Hiking is the order of the day. Many circuits are at your disposal. One can however note the remarkable way of the Douaniers which connects Buguélès to Port-Blanc along the coast. Cycling tours will also allow you to discover this magnificent coast. You can also visit the garden of Pellinec where many floral themes await you.

The bay offers the possibility of all kinds of nautical activities. Underwater, you can indulge in scuba diving. The ports allow you to practice yachting. And finally, all water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and many others are on the agenda. You can also practice sea fishing and fishing on foot. The latter should delight children and older children. You can also go on mini cruises to discover the seven islands that border the bay.
