Commune in the North of France, Quiévrechain takes place in the urban unit of Valenciennes, on the border with Belgium. It is located in the heart of the Scarpe-Escaut Regional Natural Park, not far from Crespin, Onnaing and Saint-Aybert.
This city in the north was born from the foundation of a Benedictine abbey by Saint Landelin in the 7th century. It developed rapidly over the centuries, however suffering from its proximity to Belgium and the incessant wars. The one that experienced a major boom during the industrialization of the 19th century subsequently suffered from the closure of many metallurgical or glass factories.
Quiévrechain has however been able to bounce back, today offering its visitors a modern and pleasant face.
