Saint-Julien-sur-Bibost is a small town in the mountains of Lyonnais rural. Its landscape is very hilly and has a very important difference in elevation, from 380 meters to 817 meters above sea level at the summit of Crêt d'Arjoux, a favorite break for hikers and mountain bikers.
It is located in a group of about ten commune where the culture of the cherry is very important. Conan is the main river.
Reverdy Farm: In an exceptional state of conservation, this farm evokes the rural habitat and life in the Lyonnais mountains in the nineteenth century: enclosed courtyard, home with gallery, murals, bread oven, juicer, outbuildings, period furniture, tools, costumes... Listed in the inventory of historical monuments, the farm is also a place of discovery and promotion of rural architecture (in connection with the association Maisons Paysanne du Rhône).
Moulin Marcel Coquard: Located on the banks of the stream Le Conan, it dates from the seventeenth century. From 1718, the mill required repairs, ordered by Sieur Tranchant, master baker at St Just de Lyon. Today, it bears the name of the last miller who ceased to practice in 1996. The trough wheel, grinding wheels and ingenious mechanism remain in working order and the visit reveals, on three levels, the progression of the grain to the flour.
Reading table of the landscape of the Brigadière: Between pastures and orchards, you pass the village with golden stones and colorful Saint-Julien-sur-Bibost and climb up and down to discover a verdant panorama where the wooded areas alongside the cherry trees lined up in orchards.
Two gourmet walks are offered all year round by the Tourist Office of the Pays de L'Arbresle departing from Saint-Julien-sur-Bibost. The principle ? With your hiking record, go on your ride at your own pace, independently, and the desired day. Halfway, enjoy a tasty picnic made of fresh products, concocted for you by a local craftsman.
