Built in the mid 19th century, the municipal theater now bears the name of the actor and director Jean Vilar. Its imposing facade adopts the neo-classical style.
The ceiling of the theater is round. It was made in 1921 by the painter Prevost. It is the town of Saint-Quentin rising from the ashes after the 1914-1918 war.
The sculptures of the facade were carved in 1854 by an artist Matagrin, who also worked at the Louvre in Paris.
