Former small village of Ile-de-France, Sevran is today an important commune of the department of Seine-Saint-Denis. It is located about twenty kilometers from Paris, in the heart of the Plaine de France. The town of Villepinte, Livry-Gargan or Aulnay-sous-Bois, the city takes its place on the banks of the Morea.
In the 1960s, Sevran developed spectacularly, multiplying its population by only four in just forty years. The Ile-de-France commune, however, has a much earlier origin, as evidenced by the Merovingian burials found on the spot in the 20th century. Sevran, once a prosperous city with its cereal activity, is today a suburban city rich in cultural events and green spaces.

The Domaine de la Fossée is one of the most popular sites in the city of Sevran. It includes a castle built at the beginning of the 19th century, which served among other things as a convalescent home for the wounded peacekeepers or a conservatory of music. Partially destroyed during the riots of 2005, the renovated building is today invested by the town hall of Sevran. You can also discover an 18th century farmhouse, as well as 19th century stables. At the entrance to the courtyard, a beautiful chapel can be observed.
Of medieval origin, the current Saint-Martin church dates from the 16th century. Enlarged in 1935, it houses ancient burials, as well as a small statue in painted plaster depicting the Infant Jesus of Prague.
The church of St. Elizabeth in Freinville dates back to the early 1910s. It was built of millstones and was built after the opening of a factory and the creation of a subdivision of workers. Inside, one can admire the windows made in Chartres and representing Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and the marriage of the Virgin. Both were included in the general inventory of cultural heritage.
As you walk through Sevran, you can discover the Khachkar, a monument erected in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, or the Tree of Liberty planted in 1790 for the commemoration of the French Revolution.
The town of Sevran has a large number of green spaces, awarded two flowers in the competition of towns and villages in bloom in France. It is also home to part of the forest park of the national powder factory of Sevran-Livry. Crossed by the Canal de l'Ourcq, the latter reveals in particular a technical museum of weapons powders. To enjoy the nature and the greenery, you can also visit the parks Badier, Louis-Armand, or the Ferme de la Butte-Montceleux. Do not miss the Roseraie, the garden of scents, or the fallow Kodak, a park opened in 2013 on the old vestiges of the photographic factory.
The market is held on Tuesday afternoons and Thursdays and Saturdays morning. A Christmas market takes place in December with several animations.
The Festival of Dreamers is offered to young children in January. On the program, various cultural animations and varied.
Every two years in May, the Department of Visual Arts offers the Estival des arts et métiers d'art to discover specific techniques.
In June, Zikfoot is a festival combining football and music that combines with the Street Art festival, dedicated to internationally renowned graffiti artists.
In September, Festival Day brings together all the associations of the city for festive entertainment.
During Reading at Sevran, in October, the libraries of the municipality offer readings, shows, meetings and workshops.
