Urmatt is an Alsatian village located in the Lower Rhine. Surrounded by mountains in an unspoilt nature, the town is listed as a center of tourism.

Labeled Green Station, Urmatt is a destination for leisure and deemed holiday in the region.

It is part of the Community of Municipalities of the Bruche Valley which is the entrance with 25 other cities, including Lutzelhouse and Schirmeck. As such, it enjoys all the tourist offers of the valley.

If the original Urmatt seems uncertain, it is found that a Celtic population occupied the bottom of the Bruche Valley in 250 BC After being successively under German domination, Roman and German in the centuries parish Urmatt became independent in 1802.

Things to see and do

Several witnesses of the past can discover the history of the town of Urmatt.

Among them, the Holy Cross Church. It was erected on the site of the old church became too small and antiquated and inaugurated October 29, 1865 by Bishop Raes, bishop of Strasbourg. Neo-Gothic style, it has a particular organ built in 1865 by the house Stiehr-Mockers, the mechanical traction was restored in 1874 and the original stained glass windows in the center. Events and festivities

In May, Brad Bruche of Urmatt is a big flea market is held in the town. Brad Bruche takes place on Whit Monday and stretches for over a kilometer, with nearly 400 exhibitors. Possibility of refreshment and meals on site.
