Created in 1952, Anjou Festival is now the second biggest outdoor theatre event in France. Each year, between early June and early July, 25,000 people head there to attend twenty or so performances, including many new creations. The shows take place at the beautiful historic sites of Anjou: Plessis Macé Castle, La Perrière Castle, the Arenas in Doué-la-Fontaine and sometimes Saumur and Brissac Castle. Workshops and meetings are also organised by the festival’s artistic director and theatre professionals.
