Escapade: Terroir, open up!

Depart from the town of Forges-les-Eaux, latitude 49.6087500 (N 49° 36’ 32”), longitude 1.5307800 (E 1° 31’ 51”)

• Step 1: Start Forges-les-Eaux!

• You are going to pick up your booklet "Escapade" at the Tourist Office of Forges-les-Eaux?
• So let's go! Departure near Lake Forges-les-Eaux, opposite the Casino.
• The heart of Pays de Bray is particularly humid. The discovery of the first ferruginous source is attributed to Nicolas de Moy, lord of Riberpré. While drinking during a hunt, he noticed the iron taste of a spring located in a grass near the Andelle. Immediately we dug in the middle of a small wood a brick basin to retain the precious liquid... The Spa was born!
• Ferruginous Sands, fine gray and blue clays surface in Pays de Bray. It is at the beginning of the 18th century that many faience manufactures come to supply in Forges in white clay of good quality. In 1797, Georges Wood, an English ceramist, founded a first ceramics factory in Forges. After his death, his wife remarries with Pierre-Nicolas LEDOUX and develops the production of the manufacture. Faced with this success, the competition is organized and set up in Forges but will never equal the quality and fineness of LEDOUX-WOOD parts. At the end of the 19th century, this industry is running out of steam to stop completely.

• Step 2: The Ferté Saint Samson

• Take back your car and go up the Avenue des Sources. Take the direction of Ferté Saint Samson / Argueil. Follow the signs for the Route des Paysages. You will have to turn right towards Ferté Saint Samson. Climb to the hill of La Ferté Saint Samson and head towards the explanatory panel. To your booklets!

• Step 3: Argument

• Take the road back to Argueil. Stop for a few moments in this little Brayonne village and open your booklet!

• Step 4: Beauvoir-en-Lyons

• Take the direction of Fry, then Beauvoir-en-Lyons and head to the panoramic view on your left. Be careful not to miss the small path that leads to the orientation table on your left!
• Answer questions quickly!

• Step 5: Hammeau Camp Caillot

• Take back your vehicle and en route for the rest of the Adventure!
• Take the direction of Ernemont la Villette. Follow the signs of the Route des Paysages. At the end of the D1, at the stop, take on your left then the first on your right, direction Bosc Hyons, then Montroty. Under the sign for Neufmarché / Montroty, turn left. At the "give way" take on your left. At the beginning of the descent, in a bend, a car park will come to you at the foot of a hill. Stop for a few moments then head to the panoramic view.

• Step 6: Gournay-en-Bray

• Take the road towards Ernemont la Villette, then Gournay-en-Bray. Take the direction of downtown Gournay en Bray. You pass between two pillars and pavilions dating from the 18th century. Then park in the city center near the monumental fountain.

• Before leaving Gournay-en-Bray, make a detour to the Tourist Office, we will tell you the surprising story of the creation of the little-Swiss.

• Step 7: Saint Germer Fly

• Arriving at Saint Germer de Fly (to pronounce "fli") an imposing monument spring of the landscape: the Abbey
• Open your booklet and quickly discover its history!

• Step 8: Arrival! Gerberoy, the most beautiful village in France!

• Take back your means of transport, go past the abbey towards Gerberoy. You have reached the last stage of your journey... but you still have a few puzzles to solve, so open your booklet!
• The first pleasure to Gerberoy is to discover its houses of the 17th and 18th century, brick and flint or wood and mud, giving a particular character, enhanced by the remains of its history. Gerberoy rises to 188 meters and the communal well, which was the only water point in the city, has a depth of 70 m.
• Congratulations, you have reached the end of this historic and picturesque route.
