Long ascent of the Vallon de la Selle to discover a breathtaking glacial and mineral universe! The Refuge, installed on a promontory, faces the Glacier de la Selle and the foot of the Rake. Like many of its counterparts in the massif, it sits at the bottom of its valley, where the field of hiking slowly comes to give way to that of the high mountain. TECHNICAL INFORMATION - Departure: Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans (1475 m) - Altitude difference: 1,173 m - A/R duration: 4h outward, 3h return - Distance: 8.2 km - Level : easy / physical: moderate - MAP AND TOPO - OBP n° 5 (Oisans at the End of the Feet): 538 - IGN TOP 25 n °3336 AND - ITINERARY - Possible departure from Saint-Christophe (in front of the restaurant La Cordée) or the hamlet of Les Prés (above Saint Christophe) from a small car park. The trail rises in the Vallon de la Selle revealing its waterfalls and incredible flora. The last hour of walking offers a magical panorama of the Glacier de la Selle that can be approached after an extra hour of walking. This long hike is done in a fantastic atmosphere with the nearby glaciers, in the middle of marmots and a particularly remarkable alpine flora. TO KNOW - Even in summer there are still many snow clouds, to be crossed carefully. - You are in the Ecrins National Park, respect the regulations: do not go out of the paths, no picking, fire or bivouac. For the respect of the fauna the dogs are forbidden (even on a leash).
