• The place of Nalliers

• Until 1817, the cemetery surrounded the church. Noticing the monument to the dead (war 14/18), the town had to deplore 23 dead during this war, 1 in 1925 during the pacification of Morocco, 1 during the 39/45 war and 1 during the war in Algeria.

• The town hall: The old school

• The old school: André and Madeleine ROSSIGNOL have taught in this school, inspired, brilliant, remarkable teachers, they put together many tools for schools including a wonderful collection of images combining art and education, more than 780 images, maps, history charts, science, civic education, daily life, reading methods, spelling books etc. In January 1946 the Éditions ROSSIGNOL, published under the label "la coopération pédagogique", were born in Montmorillon in 1953. From 1950 to the 1970s, nearly 18 million pupils and several tens of thousands of teachers the images Rossignol will delight, train, occupy but never bore...
• Their educational power is such that in many schools, some are used until the 80s and sometimes beyond!

• The Lauzon Mansion

• The Manoir de Lauzon also called "The small Nalliers" built in the early sixteenth century.. It is a strong house that includes: a main house on three levels, plus the attic, a wing in return and an adjoining wing. All roofs are covered with flat tiles.
• There are many chamfered openings, some with mullion. The strong houses affirm the preeminence of the lord on a territory. However, they lose the military character of the castles, even if they sometimes retain certain fortifications as moats.
• The Lauzon family lived there until the end of the 17th century. and then, it was the property of the Boismorand family and became, by inheritance, the property of Monsieur de Lanauze etc...

• The metal bridge

• The metal bridge built in 1881 partly thanks to a subscription of the inhabitants. The passage from one bank to the other was done by a ferry.
• The bridge was destroyed by the French forces of the interior (FFI) on September 2, 1944. A hard fight took place in the streets of the village and the solution to cut the passage to the Germans was to blow up the bridge. The Gartempe has its source at 680 meters above sea level, south of Guéret, in the Creuse, it passes north of the Haute-Vienne, it crosses the department of Vienne from Lathus-Saint-Rémy to the south, where it crosses the rocky chaos of the Roc d'Enfer to finish its course peacefully in the Creuse River at La Roche-Posay in the north.

• The mill

• The mill was rebuilt and turned into a flour mill in 1895 for Louis-Alély Noiron. The company was bought in 1896 by the Gigaud brothers. In 1898, 2 paddle wheels animate 3 pairs of wheels and 1 bluterie. From mill equipment, there is currently only one overcrowded barrel, two Kaplan turbines and two smaller turbines. It was bought in 1931 by Henri Pineau and was transformed the following year into a hydroelectric plant with the construction of a water building and the installation of two turbines. The electricity sold initially directly to individuals, is then to the Chinonais Company, then to EDF. In 1946 are annexed, a free-cutting factory and a chrome-plating factory which close in 1987, and of which only the buildings of the machining factory and the housing of the guardian remain. Between 1965 and 1975, two smaller turbines were added to the hydroelectric plant that is still in operation.

• The Gentilhommière de la Caillerie

• The Mansion of the Caillerie: a carved coat of arms above the entrance door is dated 1610. It was inhabited in the seventeenth century. by the family Thomas de la Caillerie, one of whose members Pierre Thomas de la Caillerie was mayor of Poitiers in 1668. A manor house is the home of a "gentile": with its pace of small castle is the building the the largest, the most beautiful and the best equipped, in a village or a hamlet inhabited by a country gentleman of low nobility: a squire.

• The village

• The village (Naler in the 11th century) whose inhabitants are called Nalliérois. The village located in a basin is built right bank and left bank of the Gartempe. The alluvial lands made that, until 1924, there were 14 gardeners and a nurseryman. Human occupation seems to go back to prehistory.
• The Brandes, in the distance, whose term means in old French "to burn".
• In the 19th century, the brandes occupied a vast territory of Poitou (80 000 hectares in 1862) and resulted from a practice where the woods were overexploited: fuel for the forges,
• fodder for animals and roofing of houses.
• Biodiversity of Poitou-Charentes: heather, broom, gorse, grasses, ferns and large animals can all be found here...
• The Dazat: a manor house existed on this locality, it was successively inhabited by Jacques Renaud des Dazats: municipal prosecutor, died in 1790 and Antoine Luçon: tax collector of Public Denarius and Contributions of the Municipality also mayor of Nalliers in 1819.

• The castle

• The Castle belonged to the German or German Family from the year 900 until 1670. They were the first lords of Nalliers and Sénéchaux du Poitou. The castle was built on a military architecture plan for defense purposes. Its location was originally a Roman stop. It had 4 towers, it remains the north-east tower and the south-west tower. A legend says that a tunnel, 5 km long, passing under the Gartempe and linking the castle to a guard house would have existed...
• Most slots have been turned into windows. It has been reworked several times. Nalliers owes its historical importance to this powerful D'Allemaigne family. In 1670, the castle became the property of the Cognac family until 1741, then by marriage the family of Turpin until 1783. In 1792, the castle was confiscated as national property but in 1801, it was bought by New- Dupin, then a succession of owners: Coudray etc...

• Saint Hilaire Church

• The Saint-Hilaire church appears in the texts in 1093, when the bishop Pierre II confirms his donation to Saint-Savin. The current building dates mainly from the 15th century, it forms with the presbytery of the eighteenth century. A beautiful ensemble, registered in the Supplementary Inventory since 1993.
• The porch bell tower is pressed against the Romanesque façade and then capped in the 18th century. a dome of slate double lanternon said "imperial" Exceptional in Poitou. Much later modified (door, chaining, bay) he integrated some carved modillions. In the 15th century, the powerful family of Allemaigne, lords of Nalliers, whose weapons appear 19 times in the church: on the keystones of the choir and on the carved caps of the ogee of the porch, will give including two abbots to Saint -Savin. Several Châtelains were buried under the flagstones of the choir of the Church: Dame Antoinette de Cognac, widow of the Count de Turpin.

• The North Chapel and the stained glass window of the choir

• The North Chapel, known as Saint Joseph's Chapel, was blessed and dedicated in 1665. Among the burials practiced, those of Charles Polliat, Sieur de La Rivière and his wife Marie Duval in 1695 and 1697, those who had Jean and Marie Anne Pennetier built,
• Madeleine Gaschet marries Jean Gourdin, sieur de Guignefolle....Two elements make up the stained glass: the coat of arms of the Lauzon family and a saint. The keys of the two spans of the chapel are decorated with weapons of Lauzon, other lords of Nalliers. The stained glass of the heart made around 1860 by a master glassmaker from Poitiers represents the Patron Saint of the Saint-Hilaire Church. He is represented as a bishop, wearing the miter and the crozier, holding in his hand the book that identifies him. Under his feet a dragon symbol of Heresy. He was in the 4th century. the First Bishop of Poitiers. Exiled for having defended the Trinitarian faith, he wrote a book: DE TRINITATE. Returning from the east, he ended his days in Poitiers in 367 or 368.
