The Piton de la Fournaise is one of the most active volcanoes on the planet and it has become one of the emblematic places to visit during a stay in Reunion Island. Enjoy a 4x4 tour to learn more and discover the volcanic massif of the island! After pickup from your hotel early in the morning, you'll hit the road towards the Wild South. You will make a stop at the blower, near Etang Salé, where the water rushes on one side of an underwater cave before gushing from the opening, on the other side. You will then take the road to the Pas de Bellecombe, and you will stop at the Nez de Bœuf, culminating at 2130 meters above sea level. You can then enjoy a magnificent 360-degree panorama of the Plaine des Cafres and the Piton des Neiges. Then, you will go to the Plaine des Sables, located at 2350 meters above sea level. It is here that you can admire an expanse of volcanic rock, covered with reddish slag. You will enjoy a unique moment, in the middle of a landscape both basalt and vegetal, with the forest that surrounds it. Finally, you will join the forest track to enjoy a typical Creole lunch in a local restaurant. Depending on the weather, you may be able to make a few more stops on the way back. Throughout your tour, you will be accompanied by your driver-guide who will teach you more about the history of the volcano. After this day discovering the surroundings of the volcano, you will be taken back to your hotel around 5pm.
