Gateway to the Baie de Somme (one of the most beautiful bays in the world and Grand Site de France), Abbeville has been a member of the Baie de Somme Agglomeration Community since 2017. Abbeville is located 1h30 from Paris, 2h from London, 1h30 from Belgium. It is also 30 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes from the forest of Crécy, site of one of the battles of the Hundred Years War. Crossed by the Somme river, the city currently has nearly 25,500 inhabitants.
A stone's throw from the city centre, nature reigns here over fifty hectares. The landscape of the Parc de la Bouvaque is comparable to the hinterland marshes of the Baie de Somme.
The park has a real hydraulic network comprising several rivers: the Scardon, the Novion and the Sautine which delimit and cross it. A path along the banks allows you to discover the flora and fauna characteristic of wetlands.
The ecosystem that makes up this park is diverse. In addition to sedentary bird species such as the Mallard or the Eurasian Coot, many migratory species such as the Shoveler or the Green-winged Teal find refuge among the wet meadows, islets and ponds.
The flora is not to be outdone: marsh iris, sedge, reeds, rushes, yellow water lilies, wild orchids are present. To safeguard this fragile environment, an area is completely protected and not accessible to the public.
Other remarkable elements of the park, the presence of two blue sources constitute one of the originalities to be discovered on this site.
