- Manuscripts Museum: a journey of writing ... It is in 1791, during the French Revolution qu'Avranches receives custody of manuscripts of Mont-Saint-Michel. Spiritual memory, intellectual of the Benedictine community, they represent a precious heritage. Setting manuscripts of the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, since 2006, Scriptorial invites you to travel through time. In a fun and interactive tour open to all, the history of manuscripts as well as the links between Avranches Mont-Saint-Michel are discussed. You will also discover the manufacturing manuscripts, translations of ancient texts, their content. Marked by technological surprises, the course enables you to deepen and test your knowledge, to admire the vibrant colors of the old illuminations or even flipping a manuscript ... The Scriptorial invites you throughout the year, temporary exhibitions, workshops and thematic conferences in connection with the book, writing, calligraphy and illumination.
