Before being a synonym of luxury and purity Baccarat is primarily a city in north-eastern France located in Meurthe-et-Moselle. Halfway between Nancy and Strasbourg, Baccarat owes its international reputation to its open glassworks under Louis XV to XVIII century. The exceptional pieces that come out today the only factory in the city are true objects of popular collection in the world.

But Baccarat has more ancient origins, from Roman times to be precise. Crystalware and religious heritage, the city of Baccarat no shortage of attractions for visitors and other visiting tourists.

Main attraction of the city, Baccarat crystal is the opportunity to enjoy unique pieces and expertise at work since the mid-eighteenth century. It is possible to buy real works of art, but especially to visit the crystal museum Baccarat attached to it. This includes more than 1,000 crystal objects over four technical room whose explaining how to work the workers of the crystal. One can discover the particular candelabra of Expo 1867 or a beautiful paperweight collection. It is installed in the castle of the Crystal, former home of the owner of the factory. One can also walk in the park, halved in the first half of the nineteenth century.

Destroyed during the Second World War, in 1944, the Saint-Rémy church was rebuilt in the 1950s in a modern style. Baccarat forces, stained glass compounds include small pieces of crystal, all colored in more than 150 colors, making it a unique set. In addition to its worldwide reputation with its crystal, the town of Baccarat is illustrated by the various cultural events that occupy part of the year.

The Baccarat food market takes place all year, Friday, 8 am to 13h. In August, a night market with flea market and garage sale is also held in the streets of the city.

Every two years, in March, Baccarat organizes its large carnival. Parade, costume contest or musical events are scheduled for this exceptional event.

The Unusuals, a discovery trail of contemporary works, settled within seven hectares of park Michaut from mid-June to late August. The event can appreciate works of art of all kinds.

The International Festival of Crafts Baccarat takes place every two years in the month of June FIMA has a village for three days of Crafts with different exhibitors from around the world, an international competition of Crafts, or demonstrations, unusual dinners or free concerts and master classes.

Every second Sunday of September, the city organizes the celebration of the Lorraine pie. The opportunity to highlight this culinary specialty originally from Baccarat. The latter is composed mainly of pork loin and calf nuts surrounded by a puff pastry. Tastings and other activities are offered for two days.
