Fief of the Chouannerie under the Revolution, the history of the locality rocked during the nineteenth century when is discovered a blue granite bench. This subterranean wealth is exploited under the Second Empire and Bécon, which becomes Bécon-les-Granits, grows in population to exceed 2200 inhabitants in the late nineteenth century. The reputation and the quality of the rock extracted in the commune are such that they are stone pavers of Bécon which are chosen to "dress" the roadway of the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Operations ceased in the 1970s but Bécon-les-Granits, which now has about 2,800 inhabitants, maintains the memory of the industry that made it famous. A museum is dedicated to him.
