Located about fifty kilometers from Châlons-en-Champagne, north of Reims, the town of Bétheny has developed over the years in the form of housing estates. Detached in 1870 to form the new town of La Neuvillette, since attached to Reims, it was particularly famous in the 20th century with the arrival of Tsar Nicolas II as part of the Franco-Russian alliance.
An aviation hotspot, the town of Bétheny is still famous for having hosted the first international aviation meeting in history, which brought together a million spectators. A local museum offers the opportunity to learn more about this interest of the city and its inhabitants for aeronautics.
