The town of Charny is located in the department of Seine-et-Marne, in the canton of Claye-Souilly. The village is part of the Community of Communes Plaines et Monts de France.
Charny covers an area of 1220 hectares and still houses 8 farms, 6 of which are in the village. Although rural, many shops are located there (bakery, butcher, pharmacy, mini market, cafe, restaurant, beauty center, costume rental). The inhabitants of Charny are Charnicois.
Charny is located on the edge of the RN3, approximately 30 kilometers from Paris, 12 kilometers from Meaux and 7 kilometers from Claye-Souilly; near Roissy Charles De Gaulle airport, Villepinte exhibition center, Jablines leisure center and Disneyland Paris.
