Facing south, Font-Romeu, meaning Pilgrim's Fountain, enjoys approximately 3,500 hours of sunshine per year. This climatic station receives a multitude of sportsmen wishing to regenerate, and many children suffering from asthma have also come to be treated.
In the immediate vicinity of Spain and Andorra, Font-Romeu is renowned for its ski slopes in winter, its wide open spaces and its preserved environment. Its inhabitants have kept a strong Catalan identity which is reflected in its language, traditions and gastronomy.
