Municipality of the Rhône, in the Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes region, Gleizé takes place about thirty kilometers from Lyon, on the edge of Villefranche-sur-Saône. It is located not far from Limas, Lacenas and Beauregard, in the heart of Beaujolais.
Former property of the lords of Beaujeu, the territory of Gleizé developed in the 15th century around the Benedictine monks established there. However, it was not until the 19th century that the town took on the aspect we know it today, in particular thanks to its enrichment linked to the establishment of the textile industry, which is booming in Lyon.
Appreciated by tourists for its authentic charm and its proximity to some of the most beautiful towns in the region, Gleizé also enjoys a certain reputation through its wine-growing activity which has been awarded an AOC.
