Located west of Valencia, the commune of Guilherand-Granges finds its place in the heart of the Ardeche. Third city of the department in terms of inhabitants, the town is located on the right bank of the Rhone, right in front of Valencia. Crossed by the Mialan, it enjoys a pleasant environment, which has especially earned him three flowers in the competition of cities and flowered villages of France.

Originally just called Guilherand, the town was once a small village attached to the hamlet of Granges. During the twentieth century, it has grown considerably, gradually becoming an important part of the Ardèche city.

Very nice, Guilherand-Granges has an interesting architectural and natural heritage that attracts visitors. Its greenery and its high quality landscapes are beautiful case around this city of character.

Things to see and do

Two churches occupy the territory of Guilherand-Granges, that of Sainte-Eulalie-nineteenth century, and that of St. Therese of the twentieth century and set in the old hamlet of Granges. In modern architecture, it reveals beautiful stained glass windows in bright colors. A temple of the Protestant Church of France has also opened in the second half of the twentieth century.

It is possible to admire the ruins of the castle of Crussol today. Medieval fortress of the early twelfth century, it was listed as an historic monument. The building stands proudly on a rocky outcrop overlooking the valley. The ruins also include 18 natural sites of the Ardeche.

Walking through the town of Guilherand-Granges, visitors discover the stack of the old cable ferry installed along the Rhone.

Events and festivities

Old and close to its traditions, the city of Guilherand-Granges has put forward its heritage to offer quality entertainment.

The weekly market is held every Friday morning. The city also offers a lively Christmas market at year end. In early July, a night market to discover local crafts.

A medieval festival takes place at the castle of Crussol in June. For the occasion, a camp, concerts or horse shows are offered.

In July, my party in town is the opportunity to attend musical aperitifs or dances.

Also in July, the water festival offers water sports demonstrations.
