In the heart of the Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region, lies the charming little village of La Sône. Located in the borough of Grenoble, the ancient Sonitus Acquae (the murmur of water) offers an incredible view of the landscapes of this part of the department.

Former castle surrounded by moat, the castle of La Sône dominates the valley of Isère, quietly installed on a rocky spur. The present building dates from the 14th century, but parts of the 12th century can still be admired, as well as a dungeon erected in the 15th century. The facades, the roofs, the park and the interior chapel are listed in the Historic Monuments. The chapel, in particular, unveils beautiful 17th century murals. Organized in the 17th century also, the castle park covers more than four hectares. One can discover, among other things, an alley of plane trees, a round basin of Louis XIV style, a cascade or a canal. Several hundred-year-old trees, such as beeches, redwoods or sophora cedars, take their place at the end of the park, and a path leading up to the castle allows to admire the new plantations.
Built in the 11th century, the church of Saint-Pierre presents an architecture of Romanesque style. Former priory seat, it has one of the most beautiful bell towers of the region and was strongly modified in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.
A medieval tower, surrounded by a park, stands proudly at the entrance of the village of La Sône. Built in the 12th century, it was once part of the surrounding wall.
As you walk through the village, do not fail to admire the Black Madonna on the square that, according to legend, has protected the inhabitants of the plague. You can also see the pillars of the ancient antique bridge that once crossed the Isère.
Site classified and certified Quality Tourism, the garden of fountains petrifying is a private property open to the public. You will enjoy a botanical world tour, while discovering ancestral sources, accompanied by a guide or free walking.
Certified Heritage of Isère, the manufacture of Saint-Chamond is a factory of weaving, braids and laces, made of tufa stone. It dates from the 19th century.
To appreciate the local fauna and flora, as well as the architectural heritage, you can take several marked hiking trails.
