- A few kilometers from Albi, the village was established from a castle on the right bank of the Tarn, at the confluence of the creek Coules. There are several hypotheses about the etymology. "Lescure" comes from the Occitan scura "stable" (Father Ernest Negro, toponymist, 20th century) or a castle "castellum scuriae" Escurus become a place of safety, then Scuria Lescure (by Abbot Graule the 19th century).
- The "castrum scuriae" has a strategic position. The first document mentioning date Lescure 1012. This castle belonged to King Robert the second (996-1031) by marriage with Constance, daughter of the Count of Toulouse. The king gave it to his former tutor, the monk Gerbert, who became Archbishop of Reims then pope under the name of Sylvester second (999-1003). The castle then became a fief Pope. The barony of Lescure enclave in the states of Viscount of Albi, no paid tribute to the Holy See.
- The location of the gates of Albi castrum made it an important strategic position. The castle was rebuilt for the first time in the 13th century, in 1229, after the crusade against the Albigensians. The robbery was recurrent in the region and the castle was destroyed a second time during the Hundred Years War. The reconstruction was made under the third Lord Peter (1450-1493) and then it was destroyed a third time during the wars of religion and rebuilt in the late 16th century. Lords of Lescure belonged to the Catholic party and fought with ardor Protestants. Lord de Lescure had the title of baron to the 17th century.
- In the 19th century, the town of Lescure had an area three times larger than today. She lost the southwest (the hamlets of Fabrie, Rustan, shame, Garrigue, the Jonquières, Mascle ...) in favor of Valderiès in 1852 and the common Garric was created in 1870 by taking the parishes of St. Martiane and of Pouzounac.
- After the Revolution, the town of Lescure depended canton of Saint-Juéry and district of Albi. In 1973, the town became part of the township north of Albi and since 1984 the township northeast of Albi.
- The Decree of 30 May 1941 the town now called "Lescure Albigenses." It was a request of people considering that there are several towns with the same name.
