Situated in Plaine de France, Louvres hosts the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport on its territory. Although the territory seems to be occupied since Prehistory, the Gallo-Roman period left more traces of its passage. As for the Middle Ages, both churches suggest that the commune was an important religious place. The ruins of the castle of Orville also testify to the presence of nobles on the site, and even close relatives of the crowned heads of France. The establishment of the airport on the commune has caused the demography of the commune to flare up. The authentic character of the place is nevertheless always present. It is therefore a commune rich of old stones that awaits you.
The tour of the historical heritage of the commune begins with the two churches built side by side: the Saint-Rieul tower and the Saint-Justin church. The first, built in the 12th century, pays tribute to Saint Rieul who lived there in the 3rd century, and the second, built in the 11th century and remodeled several times until the 14th century, refers to the martyr saint Justin. They are of course both registered in the Historic Monuments. The tour continues through the castle and its park. The construction of the building is relatively recent, since it dates from 1867, the former seigneurial castle having burned. Anyway, it remains a must-see building of Louvres. As for its park, it is just beautiful and welcomes on 2.66 hectares, walkers, joggers and families for moments of relaxation in an extraordinary natural space.
Inscribed in the Historic Monuments, the farm of the street to the Blés and the street of the Milton is worth the detour, especially since it is still in activity. Finally, the fourth and last vestige of the past to be classified Historical Monument, the door of the Hôtel-Dieu is to be seen absolutely. But the walk does not end there. Strolling through the streets, you can admire the rue du Milton, which is still paved in the old style, the cemetery, the Sainte-Beuve house, the public fountain, the watering place, the Saint-Justin cross and the archaeological excavation site Orville.
Do not miss the last excavations of the excavations, visit the Archea Museum, which collects incredible collections of all the remains found on the site.
Finally, there are many sports facilities available to practice your favorite sport.
