Town of Ain, in region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Meximieux takes place about thirty kilometers from Bourg-en-Bresse and Lyon. It is located on the banks of Longevent, near Lagnieu, Chazey-sur-Ain or Béligneux.
Of ancient origin, Meximieux began to develop in common in the Middle Ages. Possession of the Archbishop of Lyon between the late eleventh and early thirteenth century, it happens later in the hands of the Savoy, up until the early seventeenth century when an agreement is made with the Kingdom of France. After hosting a major offensive against German-September 1944, the city experienced a story quiet until today.
